Chinese base on Cuba is a trap for the US
As usual, let's keep it short. China might be negotiating a military training facility in Cuba. If the deal will be struck this poses a great threat to the US. At first glance, one could think about the close proximity to the continental US but this is the smaller of the problems. If the US will start a campaign to undermine the whole endeavor then China will use this to show the world the double standards that the US presents. They will most certainly say that the US can have bases wherever it wants to protect its interests, so China can also do the same and as it happens its interests lay in Cuba.
It looks like a trap to me and China will be on the winning side. If the US does nothing, then they have a base in Cuba. If the US will start to object to the whole idea they will say that these are deals between two independent countries and those deals are in the best interest of China's security.
The rest of the world will be watching. The number of US bases around the globe is well known and the double standards argument will be used extensively by China. Let's see how this plays out. I might be completely wrong on this but time will tell.
