At first I thought this was Russian propaganda. It is not...
There is something wrong when the EU waves with a big stick at Russia and than we can read at Financial Times that the LNG import from Russia is surging.
You can read the whole article yourself and don't trust my screen grabs. When you import 40% more than in 2021 and at the same time you call Russia an evil state, than who you are, doing business with an evil state?
To be honest this was predictable. This is simple math. There is a given amount of LNG on the market, Russia is producing a certain chunk of it. If you dump Russia as a supplier, there won't be more gas on the market to fill that gap, as the supply is steady. Why pretend helping Ukraine and at the same time make deals with Russia?
This whole thing doesn't add up. You put sanctions to starve Putin's empire and at the same time you feed it with LNG cash.
I don't think that this whole situation is serious... But on the other hand I'm old and grumpy. Maybe this is the new normal?
